The second myth is that the pet owner is not able to use the tool and might select the wrong option. That’s actually a very fair concern and we’ve developed a number of mechanisms to prevent this.
Firstly, when a pet owner selects an appointment option, say vaccination or consultation, it is possible to show a specific message to clarify any possible misunderstanding.
For example, let’s imagine you offer the option for nurse appointments, we can show a disclaimer message explaining that a vet will not be available for this appointment. we can even request that the pet owner to tick a box to confirm that they’ve read that message.
Secondly, on top of selecting a consultation option we ask the pet owner to give us in plain English the reason for the appointment and this section is automatically screened for specific keywords. Now this allows us to take various actions such as blocking appointments or giving some advice.
By default we prevent the booking of surgical procedures, dental procedures, and emergencies. We also request a stool sample or urine sample whenever it is adequate to do so. This is of course like everything else customizable per clinic and these roles may even be different from one appointment option to another. We are very confident that the system can be set up to avoid any misunderstanding for your pet owners.
